I am a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in California and have been counseling children and adults for more than a decade. I also am a Level-III Reiki Practitioner, as well as an ordained non-denominational minister. I have trained extensively as a cognitive-behavioral therapist and found this approach to be especially useful in helping people deal with anxiety and depression. Always curious and eager to learn, I began studying Buddhism five years ago and integrating its teachings into my professional and personal life. As a recovering worrier and perfectionist, I find great peace and joy in Eastern and Western spiritual wisdom. I aspire to live a life connected to God, enjoying the present moment, and following my Heart. In my counseling practice, I help people to connect and listen to their Souls' messages, which I believe are Divinely inspired. My role is to support you through questions, tips, and intuitive observations so that you can better access your own powerful wisdom. The journey through life can be a challenging one, and I enjoy supporting you along your path. You are filled with love, light, power, and peace that can be experienced no matter what is going on around you. Your Soul is complete, healthy, and strong. I am simply here to remind you of this and to offer you tools and wisdom to help you enjoy your journey!
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
I completed my undergraduate degrees in Sociology and Journalism at the University of Missouri-Columbia. I completed my Master's degree coursework and training at the University of Maryland, where I learned and practiced dream interpretation, and National University in San Diego. For many years, I had a private counseling practice in Chula Vista, CA, where I helped people with anxiety and depression. I also worked for a Catholic Church, where I conducted premarital and marital counseling. In addition, I conducted counseling groups and taught classes in Sharp Mesa Vista Hospital's cognitive-behavioral therapy program. I also have experience creating/leading cognitive therapy groups for teens and mindfulness classes for adults, as well as presenting workshops for parents and couples. Although I have worked with most age groups,
I greatly enjoy working with individual adults, premarital and newly married couples, and new parents. I specialize in brief counseling (12 sessions or less) that is solution-focused and spiritually-oriented.
